Delicious and incredibly moist
3 cups sugar 1 cup shortening 1 1-pound can pumpkin 4 eggs, beaten 3½ cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground allspice ½ teaspoon ground cloves 2/3 cup water
1. Grease and flour 3 (8”x4”x2”) loaf pans. 2. Combine sugar, shortening, pumpkin and eggs and beat thoroughly. 3. Sift dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture alternately with water. 4. Mix until blended. 5. Pour into pans and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until centers spring back when pressed lightly. 6. Cool in pans 10 minutes. 7. Turn out onto wire racks and cool completely.
