~ Marinara Sauce ~ 1 onion, chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped 2 carrots, chopped garlic (however many cloves you'd like - minced) 2 (16 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 small can tomato paste 2 large cans crushed tomatoes salt, sugar, and basil to taste In a large saucepan, saute the veggies in olive oil until tender. Add the cans of tomatoes, sauce, and paste. Fill one of the cans of tomato sauce with water twice and add to the pot. Add a bit of salt, sugar, and basil. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for a couple of hours. Make sure you do this with the lid off. Otherwise you'll end up with a very runny sauce. Taste it at the end to see if it needs more sugar or salt.
